Clear Fork Creek - Stepping back to 1949
Photo taken June 7, 2014 Lockhart State Park, Texas
When I was a little boy I took a fishing trip with my parents and aunt and uncle in 1949 when I was 7 years old. They took some snapshots of the lake and a small waterfall with their Kodak brownie camera. On a recent photo day with my photo buddy, Amy Rae, we went to Lockhart State Park to capture some photos. That day I was experimenting with black and white and took several shots of the small waterfall coming off Clear Fork Creek. Thanks to a recent rainfall the creek was flowing robustly.
Many of the structures at the park were built by the CCC between 1935-38 and I suspect the manmade waterfall was constructed in that time period, although I'm not positive.
I set the shutter speed low and used center weighted metering and focused at a long distance to try to get a slight blur in the foreground. My objective was to recreate a shot that one might get from a Kodak brownie camera and to achieve some boken on the water drops in the creek in the foreground.
